Aberfeldie Private Wine Room

A serious wine collection deserves its own place. In this private wine room in Aberfeldie, Melbourne, an entire wall of EuroCave Revelation wine cabinets creates a considered home for the collection while allowing the room itself to remain comfortable for entertaining.

Designed by CoLab Design and shortlisted in the 2018 Australian Interior Design Awards, the space brings wine storage and interior design together with remarkable restraint.

Each EuroCave Revelation cabinet is dedicated to a particular wine varietal, ensuring each bottle is ready to enjoy at its ideal drinking temperature while being maintained at a stable temperature to protect the collection. Presentation shelves place selected bottles on display, while full cabinet lighting transforms the collection into an integral part of the room. Soft-close shelves provide considered access to each bottle.

Importantly, using wine cabinets rather than conditioning the entire room means the wine and the people sharing it can each have the environment they need. The collection remains carefully protected inside the cabinets while the surrounding space stays at a comfortable temperature for the owners and their guests.

It is an approach that treats wine as something to be both cared for and lived with.
